BASIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The following section provides basic operating instructions for the Q30.
Power Connection
- Power can be supplied to the Q30 by connecting the AC power adapter to the data cable, as in the case of RS232 or USB configurations, or via a powered USB cable (12V Powered USB) where the connected POS terminal provides the power.
Please Note: To connect the communication cable to the device, remove the back cover and connect the communication cable head to the 2×7 pin interface.
Reset Device
- To reset the terminal, press and hold the reset button for 4-6 seconds using a pen or similar item.
USB and PIN Pad Connection
The Q30’s 2×7 pin communication supports PIN Pad connection as well as USB data connection for downloading and debugging purposes.
SAM/SIM Installation
WARNING: Power down the terminal before installing SIM cards or Micro SD cards. If the terminal is still powered on during an attempted SIM or SD card installation or removal, both the terminal and the card can be damaged irreparably.
- Power down the Q30.
- Unscrew and open back cover.
Gently press and slide SIM or Micro SD
door toward outer edge of terminal and
open hinged door. - Seat card with gold
connectors down into slot, aligning with
opening. - Gently press and slide door closed.
Stand Installation
- Insert the metal stand’s prongs into the three stand slots on the underside of terminal.
- Slide terminal firmly into place on stand.
CARD READERS
The Q30 includes the following card readers:
Magnetic Stripe Card
Slide the card through the card reader slot from top to bottom or from bottom to top with the magnetic strip oriented towards the body of the device. Make sure that the card is fully inserted into the card reader while swiping the card.
IC/Smart Card Reader
Insert the card fully into the reader with the metallic contacts facing up and towards the device. Make sure that the card is fully inserted into the card reader while scanning the card.
Contactless Card Reader
The contactless card reader reads cards and devices placed roughly within an inch (2.5 mm). For best results, place as close to the reader as possible and center the card over the contactless area at the top of the terminal.
CLEANING THE DEVICE
- Do not use industrial strength or abrasive cleaner as it may damage or scratch the screen.
- Do not use industrial strength or abrasive cleaner.
- Do not immerse the device in water or liquid.
- Do not spray water or cleaner into EMV Card Reader or ports.
TERMINAL INSTALLATION AND USAGE TIPS
- If any cables become damaged, seek a replacement.
- Do not insert unknown materials into any port on the Q30; this may cause serious damage.
- If repairs are required, please contact a professional technician instead of attempting them on your own.
- Avoid exposing the device to an excessively hot, dusty, or strong electromagnetic environment.
- Do not vibrate, shake, or drop the device.
